It is the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
It goes hand in hand with dealing with hardships, struggles, defeats, adversity, illnesses, injuries. If you don’t have resilience when the above mentioned happens, it will be extremely difficult to overcome them.
There is a summarize of an article from Kamila Sip, PHD and of Ryan Curl, PHD that really reflect the true meaning of resilience:
Resilience is not a stable, fixed trait of our personality that we have and always will. IT IS A DYNAMIC SKILL THAT IS ADAPTIVE, MALLEABLE AND TRAINABLE that will help you cope, deal and learn from the situation to grow from it. Yes Resilience is adaptive and malleable. We can learn from those experiences, grow and adapt along the way, and all part of being resilient.
Resilience is like a shield that is both ever evolving and preparing us for the future adversity. Remember this, Adversity is dynamic but so is resilience as well and is trainable. With the right skills, perspective, and environment, we can improve our resilience. How, by improving our skills, abilities help to give us an Elite mindset.
